About Marathon Notes
Marathon Notes is a small guide to marathon running, with particular attention to the races people hear about most often. Its purpose is to explain what makes those events distinctive and what entering one involves.
Our approach is practical rather than prescriptive. A runner seeking a first finish has different needs from someone pursuing a qualifying time, and a training schedule must fit around work, family and recovery. We explain the choices without pretending that one method suits everyone.
Race arrangements can change between editions. Entry dates, qualifying standards, bag policies and aid-station provisions should always be checked with the organiser before making plans. Training information here is general guidance, not a substitute for individual medical advice.
